Characteristics
There are three types of tornadoes, multiple vortex, waterspout and a land spout. A multiple vortex has two or more pillars. Pillars are the spirals that descend from the storm cloud. A tornado that forms over water is called a water spout. A land spout is a weak tornado that occurs over land. Tornadoes can also be all different shapes and sizes. They are usually about 0.5 km wide. The speed can be to 175km per hour and they can travel a distance of up to 20km. You would hear intense thunderstorms and rumbling noises.
